Knowing when to stop drinking alcohol is sometimes hard for people to recognize. Maybe you’re out at a party and get caught up in the fun so you have more drinks to continue that elated buzz. Or perhaps you’re lost in conversation with someone and you don’t realize how many beers you’ve actually had. Worse yet, maybe you’re trying to drown out problems and stresses that you’re having to face. It doesn’t matter if you’re out for fun or trying to escape, it’s important to know when to say you’ve had enough.

It’s easy to get lost in a bottle when you’re having a bad day. Then, it’s even easier to continue to depend on bottles of booze to get you through all of your problems. After a while you’re not drinking only when things are bad, you’re drinking at every chance you get and you’ve created a real alcohol problem for yourself. Alcohol dependency can destroy lives and you need to fight to stop that from happening. Kicking the habit can be a struggle, but you don’t have to feel as though you’re facing it alone. If you want outside help, talk to friends, family, or seek professionals that can help guide you.

Everyday there are seemingly little things that you can do that will impact your recovery in a big way. Avoid places and people that may trigger you to drink. Such as, if you know going to bars and parties will encourage you to drink, try and stay away from them. There are plenty of other fun, social activities you can partake in. Try meditation or take up a hobby to focus on when things get really stressful. Don’t let the world overwhelm you. Stand strong and confident and know that no matter what comes your way, you’ll be ready to face it head on.
